What is veterans cemetery maryland?

The Maryland Veterans Cemetery System (MVCS) is a state-operated system of five veterans cemeteries located throughout the state of Maryland. The cemeteries are located in Crownsville, Cheltenham, Hurlock, Rocky Gap, and Cumberland.

The MVCS offers burial options for eligible veterans, their spouses, and dependent children. Eligibility requirements include active-duty service, service in the National Guard or Reserves, and military service during wartime or peacetime. Veterans who were dishonorably discharged are not eligible for burial in the MVCS.

The cemeteries provide gravesites, headstones or markers, burial flags, and military funeral honors. They also offer VA-funded perpetual care of the gravesites. The MVCS operates under the supervision of the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Maryland Veterans Cemetery System serves as a final resting place for Maryland veterans and their families and provides a space for commemoration and remembrance of those who have served in the armed forces.
